The Crosville South Cheshire Bus Running Day 4th July 2010 MARKING 50 YEARS SINCE THE OPENING OF CREWE BUS STATION
This year's event has been renamed to include the fondly remembered Crosville Bus Company which served Cheshire and North Wales with great dignity for many years, and to tie in with the anniversary of the opening of its Bus Station on 21 June 1960.
We are once again very grateful to Arriva (North West and Wales) for assistance and support in both making the Bus Station available to us and their positive encouragement in many other ways.
Free demonstration rides will take place throughout the day with destinations expected to include Stapeley Water Gardens, Bridgemere Gardenworld, Nantwich and Sandbach.
There are high hopes that buses representing all five decades of the Bus Station (including from both PMT and North Western who were there at the beginning) will attend.
It is also expected that the very last traditional rear entrance and conductor operated Crosville double decker which used to work at Crewe will be making a nostalgic return.
A variety of other interesting vintage buses and coaches should also be in service or on display at the Centre, and there will be bus related models displays and sales stands in the hall.
As usual, the other attractions at the Heritage Centre will be open on this special day. |
