The Monday of the early May Bank Holiday weekend will see an unprecedented historic line up of top link express engines from the former LMS Railway Company at Crewe Heritage Centre.

Whilst the locomotives are likely to be on site at other times during the weekend organisers are planning to have ‘Princess Elizabeth' - and possibly one of the others -in steam and doing demonstration runs in the yard on the Monday.

A spokesman for the Centre said ‘this is a milestone in the history of steam locomotive preservation and the fact that all three engines are painted in the glorious ‘Crimson Lake' livery of the 1930's means that this is probably the first time in almost 70 years that such a memorable sight has occurred. It is marvellous that it is to happen at Crewe and is certainly one of the most significant events the history of Crewe Heritage Centre. We are very grateful to the three Locomotive owners for making it possible'.

The Centre is open between 10 am and 4 pm on the three days of the Holiday weekend, normal admission charges apply.

Intending visitors are asked to note that it is not possible to allow access at any other times.

The public display of the newly restored ‘Royal Scot' alongside ‘Duchess of Sutherland' and ‘Princess Elizabeth' means that for the first time since 1962 fully operational examples of each of these legendry classes of the steam age can be seen together.
