Don't miss your free* ride on our
Miniature Railway, a real favourite with all members of the
family - from young to old.
Constructed in 1992, the 600 yard track covers the whole
length of the site and takes visitors from Crewe Old Works
Station through the 30 yard tunnel to Forge End, where the
train reverses, and then onto Midge Bridge where visitors can
alight and visit the North Junction Signal Box.
Watch out for the prototype tilting train, the Advanced
Passenger Train, as the miniature railway takes visitors
alongside the West Coast Main Line.
The
miniature railway has two diesel locomotives, one battery
powered locomotive and one steam locomotive - Jenny.
Trains operate every 30 minutes, commencing at 10:00 with the
last train at 16:00. The journey time is 15 minutes.
*
one free ride per visitor is included with admission to the
site. Further rides are available and tickets should be
purchased from the ticket office before travel.
We
are also looking to increase our home fleet of miniature
locomotives so if you are interested in housing your miniature
locomotive at the Crewe Heritage Centre, please get in contact
using the
Contact Us page.
Crewe Heritage Centre also features a number of model railway
layouts, notably a number of 'HO' scale layouts based on the
U.S.A. These are located in the North Junction signalbox.
